The Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) announces the launch date of the National Qualifications Framework in the Sultanate of Oman

The Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance held a press conference this morning, chaired by Her Excellency Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, and in the presence of a number of media representatives at the Authority’s headquarters. Her Excellency announced during the press conference the date of launching the National Qualifications Framework in the Sultanate of Oman, under the auspices of His Excellency Nasser bin Khamis Al-Jashmi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, next Wednesday, corresponding to May 31, 2023, at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.
The Authority is responsible for the governance, management, and implementation of the National Qualifications Framework, as it is the competent authority in this regard based on Royal Decree No. (9/2021) regarding the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance, which referred to the Authority’s role in preparing and developing the comprehensive national qualifications framework, and the inclusion of Omani qualifications in it, and the harmonization of foreign and international qualifications with it.
Her Excellency Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, stated that The national qualifications frameworks all over the world are the main and official reference for classifying, comparing, calibrating and designing national qualifications of all kinds, and aligning them with international qualifications. They are also one of the most important elements of education quality systems. With the launch of the National Qualifications Framework by the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance, of Sultanate of Oman will join the list of 150 countries that have their own national framework. Her Excellency referred to the wide and large scope that this framework includes, which was designed in line with supporting the national economic and educational needs, and to achieve a number of national goals, which were identified in consultation with the relevant authorities from all educational and training sectors in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Authority aims, through the official ceremony to launch the Comprehensive National Qualifications Framework in the Sultanate of Oman, to introduce it, market it, and promote it to all relevant parties, highlighting the most important milestones that the Authority has gone through in order to develop it, explain its uses, and its great benefits to the country and the citizen, and presenting The Authority's future plan for its implementation.
Ms. Fakhriya Al Habsia, General Director of the National Qualifications Framework, stated that the Authority intends besides of the inauguration ceremony, intends to launch electronic services related to the implementation of the National Qualifications Framework and display the National Qualifications Register, which is an electronic system developed to support the process of implementing the National Qualifications Framework and to facilitate the acceleration of its procedures, in line with The government's directions towards digitizing all its services and procedures.
