Professor Thuwayba Al Barwani graduated with a Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the State University of New York. She is currently a Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the College of Education and the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Sultan Qaboos University and is currently serving as a member of the Oman Authority of Academic Accreditation And Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA).
She served as a member of University Council at SQU, Dean of the College of Education at SQU, and an Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development. She also served as a member of The State Council (The Education Committee), The Education Council, Board of Trustees of A’Sharqiyah University, and a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Specialized Center for Teacher Training at the Ministry of Education.
In addition to her participation in the above-mentioned strategic Boards and Committees, Prof. Thuwayba serves in a number of other committees, boards, and think tanks at the SQU level. She teaches graduate level courses and supervises MA thesis in ELT curriculum. She is a principal investigator and co-investigator in a number of HM grants, TRC grants, and also internal grants.
Her research is published internationally in areas such as: Teacher Education, ELT teaching and learning, Quality in higher education, Literacy, Gender and Family. She also presented in international, regional, and national conferences, seminars, workshops, and symposia. She plays a significant role in International Professional Associations and is advocate for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
