Dr. Ammar worked as a lecturer in construction engineering from 1996 to 2007. He then assumed the role of head of department of engineering at the Higher College of Technology from 2007-2010, as the department grew from 2,000 students to over 4,500. In 2010, he became the Assistant Dean of Salalah College of Technology, then the Dean in 2011. He joined Takatuf Oman in September 2012 as the Associate Director of the Takatuf Scholars Programme and has been working in that capacity since then. He is currently working on an assignment in OQ relating to innovation efforts in the company.
During his career, he worked on the design of curricula for the colleges of technology, conducting quality assurance review and developing systems for the Higher College of Technology, enhancing academic systems at Salalah College of Technology, and externally reviewing higher education institutions in Oman. Since joining Takatuf, Dr. Ammar has focused on contributing to the development and execution of the Takatuf Scholars Programme selection and deployment processes. As part of the Programme’s team, he contributed to increasing the number of applicants from 284 to over 10,000 and securing funds to award over 100 international scholarships to date.
Dr. Ammar worked with OAAAQA in the past as an external examiner prior to joining its board of directors in Janaury 2020.
