Prof. Dr. Armin Eberlein
 
Prof. Dr. Armin Eberlein is the Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs at the German University of Technology in Oman. Prior to this position, he was a Full Professor and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Regina (UofR) in Canada. Before joining UofR, he spent 10 years at American University of Sharjah (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates where he was a Professor and held various administrative roles, such as Director of Assessment, Coordinator of Accreditation and Department Head.  Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, Canada, where he was the Director of the Software Engineering program and one of the Co-Directors of the Alberta Software Engineering Research Consortium (ASERC). His research interests focus on the improvement of software and requirements engineering practices and techniques. He worked previously as a hardware and software developer at Siemens in Munich, Germany, and has consulted for various companies in Germany, the UK, and Canada. Prof. Dr. Eberlein received a Dipl-Ing (FH) degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences in Germany, a M.Sc. degree in Communications Systems, and a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering from the University of Wales, Swansea, UK.
 
Dr. Khalid Ahmed Al Mutawah
 
Dr Khalid Al Mutawah has a technology, business visionary and strong records of success in creating robust IT architectures and infrastructures. Proven ability to bring the benefits of IT to solve business issues while managing costs and risks. Led development and deployment of custom apps for organizations. 18 years of experience including ICT operations, Senior Data Analyst, Research & Academic services and Director of information technology. He worked as Assistance Professor and Director of Information Technology at University of Bahrain and Senior Director in Quality Assurance Authority. He is currently the Director of Governance and Enterprise Architecture in Information and eGovernment Authority where he contributed to many enterprise projects at national levels in the field of information technology and communications, and established an ICT Governance framework for the Government of Bahrain.   Dr Khalid received his tertiary education in Computer Science, E-commerce Technology, and Information Systems in Bahrain, United Kingdom and Australia. He was awarded the Chevening Scholarship from British Council in Bahrain for Master Research at Essex University. He conducted a PHD studies at Monash University in Data mining for Enterprise Networked Systems. He also has several professional qualifications including, ITIL, Oracle, and CMI.    Dr Khalid won the e-Concept excellence award in 2012. He is a jury member of Sh. Nasser Award for Innovation in Science from 2011 to 2014. He also contributed as a jury member in the National Robotics Competitions in Bahrain and in the World Robotics Olympiad in Malaysia. He also contributed in the National project for Online Child Safety with TRA-Bahrain in 2011. He also participated on more than 12 academic reviews in Bahrain with distinct roles where chaired three institutional listings, four ICT qualifications validation, four follow up reviews for ICT programmes, and an ICT department review for a college in Bahrain.   Dr Khalid is a Data Scientist with primary interests in data mining techniques, decision support systems and Business Intelligence. He published more than 10 articles in various ICT fields, and invited as speakers in several scientific conferences. He also elected as the Vice Chair of ACM Professional Chapter Gulf Region (2009 -2011), Professional IEEE member and Professional ACM member, and Board member of Technology and Business Society in Bahrain. 
 
Dr. Nicola Huson
 
Dr. Nicola Huson is currently a researcher and lecturer at the Institute for German Language at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Prior to this Dr. Huson was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nizwa at CAS (Department for Foreign Languages). Previously and for many years she was a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Lecturer & representative in the Middle-East, i.e. at the German Jordanian University, Amman, Jordan, the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) & the at La Manouba University in Tunisia. Other positions include Head of German; educational consultancy for the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ former GTZ/IS) with the Qatar Supreme Educational Council; PhD programme coordinator at the Bielefeld Graduate School for Economics and Management (BiGSEM), Bielefeld University, coordinating and lecturing in the German language section at the Eastern Mediterranean University in North Cyprus and working as a project manager for staff and organisation development in several EU projects with a German Company (REGE mbH). Dr. Huson holds a PhD and Master Degree in Applied Linguistics (German as a Foreign Language) from Bielefeld University in Germany. She is a member of the International Association of Germanists and has published several papers and attended conferences on Foreign Language Education and Intercultural Competence. 
 
Dr. Shaheen Motala-Timol
 
Dr. Shaheen Motala-Timol is a chemistry-trained higher education professional and quality assurance practitioner. She holds a PhD in Polymer Chemistry and has specialized in the study of novel biodegradable polylactones, focusing on the design of nano-sized copolymers with peptides. Her research work in polymer chemistry has been published in scholarly journals and she was awarded the TWAS Regional Office for Central and South Asia Office Prize in 2011. She also holds an advanced qualification in designing and facilitating e-Learning from the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development Practices in Public Policy, awarded by TERI University. As a subject specialist in Chemistry, she has worked at the University of Mauritius since 2008 as part-time lecturer, on different Chemistry-based modules. Shaheen worked at the Tertiary Education Commission since 2009 and in 2020, she moved to the newly established Higher Education Commission, where she is heading the Regulatory Affairs and Accreditation Division. She has over 12 years of expertise in regulatory matters such as accreditation and auditing, policy planning and development in the public and private higher education sector in Mauritius, and in international set ups. She is an advocate for inclusive and quality education for all.  She also works as an independent educational consultant for government agencies and serves as an external reviewer for international accreditation agencies, such as Oman Academic Accreditation Authority, the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, the Malta National Commission For Further and Higher Education, and the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council. She also conducted internal assessment of higher education institutions in the African continent under the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) Africa Fellowship.She is an alumni of the Global Young Academy, which provides a rallying point for outstanding young scientists from around the world to come together to address topics of global importance. Shaheen was a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow (2016-2017) under the Fulbright Exchange Activity. She spent the 2016-2017 academic year at Pennsylvania State University, where she explored different aspects of higher education in the US, including internationalization and lifelong learning. She was also a visiting scholar at the Center for International Higher Education, Boston College. Her current research addresses the challenges and opportunities of cross-border higher education, and how these shape education policies in developing countries.
