Dr. Esra Saleh Al Dhean
 

Holds a Doctorate from Brunel University London, in the area of Strategic decisions and quality in the context of Higher Education, currently an Executive Director of Quality Assurance and Assistant Professor at Ahlia University Bahrain. Appointed external reviewer and conducted various QA reviews as part of Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), Education & training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) KSA and Bahrain Quality Assurance (BQA) for National Qualification Framework Validation for local and cross boarder qualifications. An expert in strategic planning, measurement and evaluation for higher education including assessment of internal and external environment. Published various research in the area of strategy and quality management. As a principle fellow by Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK and expert in curriculum review, design and mapping to the National Qualification Framework, enabled AU to place its qualifications on NQF Bahrain, which leaded the university for a promising future. Published a number of research papers related to Higher Education Management including quality assurance, strategic decision making and teaching practices.

 
Dr. Philida Schellekens
 
Dr Philida Schellekens is an independent consultant, author, researcher and teacher trainer. Her core area of expertise is the teaching of English and other languages in educational contexts, vocational training and the workplace. In addition to her language work, Philida has worked as an Ofsted inspector since 2003, inspecting EFL and ESOL, maths, foreign languages and British sign language. Since 2015, she is a lead inspector for Ofsted and assesses the quality of education, and leadership and management across all 16+ education and training. She inspects educational provision across all GCSE and A’ levels, as well as vocational training, eg engineering, construction, hotel & catering, and health & social care. She has acted as a consultant with many colleges in the UK on effective teaching and learning, quality management and language in the curriculum. Internationally, Philida has worked in the Middle East, India, Vietnam, Libya and Tunisia, on language in TVET, commerce and industry.  For example, in 2015 she led a team of consultants in Saudi Arabia to develop the capacity of English language provision across KSA`s colleges of excellence.  She created a strategy for the Libyan government in 2013 to improve the quality of English teaching from secondary school to HE. Philida has published widely.  Her publications include Language in Construction (2004); The Oxford University Press ESOL Handbook (2007); Cause and Effect: The Impact of the Skills for Life Strategy on Language Assessment” Studies in English Language Testing (2009) CUP; and Teaching and Testing the Language Skills of First and Second Language Speakers (2011) Cambridge Assessment. Philida is a senior adviser to the British Council and is a member of its English Language and Advisory Group. Since Sept 2020 Philida works for the Education and Training Foundation as its National Head for English and ESOL. 

 
Dr Rima Al Zadjali
 

Dr. Rima Al Zadjali is a graduate of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), College of Education. She has an MA in Language Testing and Program Evaluation (with distinction) from the University of Essex, UK and a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Lancaster, UK. Dr. Rima has been the Dean of Gulf College, Oman since May 2018. Prior to that, she had a long career as a senior language lecturer and a quality assurance specialist at SQU (from 1997-2018). Dr. Rima served as the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Community Service at the Quality Assurance Office, SQU from 2013-2018. In this role, she worked closely with administrative and academic units in all matters pertaining to quality assurance, accreditation, policy development, and performance management. Dr. Rima previously served as the Deputy Director for Assessment at the Language Centre, SQU. In this post, she supervised the design and implementation of English language achievement, placement, and exit tests in the General Foundation Program (GFP). Dr. Rima has been an external reviewer with the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) since 2010. She has participated as a panel member in a number of institutional and GFP Quality Audits. She has also served as panel member in the first Institutional Standards Assessment in Oman and chaired the first GFP Quality Audit in Oman. She also served as Executive Officer (Review Director) during her secondment at the OAAA in 2012. She is a certified KP Trainer and Certified Performance Improvement Professional by the KPI institute. Dr. Rima served as a co-opted and elected member of the Executive Committee of the Oman Quality Network in Higher Education (OQNHE), now known as the Oman Association for Quality in Higher Education (OAQHE).
